Tłumaczenie polskie: Nikolauss, właśc. Nikolaus Harnoncourt, to austriacki muzyk i dyrygent urodzony 6 grudnia 1929 w Wiedniu i zmarły 5 marca 2016 w Johanneshof (Styria). Uznawany za jednego z największych dyrygentów XXI wieku, był pionierem muzyki barokowej i klasycznej na oryginalnych instrumentach. Był dyrygentem głównym orkiestry Concentus Musicus Wien w latach 1954-1967 i 1986-1991. Był dyrektorem muzycznym English Chamber Orchestra w latach 1972-1979, a także gościnnym dyrygentem w Wiedeńskiej Orkiestrze Kameralnej, Berliner Philharmoniker, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Bayerischer Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester, Cleveland Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, a także wielu innych. W 1986 r. został pasowany na rycerza Orderu Imperium Brytyjskiego, a w 1992 r. został podniesiony do rangi rycerza Orderu Cesarstwa Austro-Węgierskiego. W 2001 r. otrzymał nagrodę Polar Music, a w 2008 r. nagrodę Grammy za najlepszy nagrany album klasyczny za nagrania całej serii symfonii Haydna z Wiener Barockorchester.
