Billy Ocean è un cantante britannico di musica soul e pop. Nato il 21 gennaio 1950 a Fyzabad, in Trinidad e Tobago, ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale nel 1966 suonando in gruppi di rock e rhythm and blues in Inghilterra. Nel 1976, ha firmato un contratto con l'etichetta discografica GTO e ha pubblicato il suo primo singolo, "Love Really Hurts Without You". Questo titolo è diventato un successo internazionale, raggiungendo il 2° posto nel Regno Unito e il 22° posto negli Stati Uniti. Nel 1984, ha pubblicato il suo album di successo "Suddenly", che conteneva tre singoli al numero 1 negli Stati Uniti: "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)", "There'll Be Sad Songs (To Make You Cry)" e "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going". Il suo album successivo, "Tear Down These Walls", è stato pubblicato nel 1988 ed ha raggiunto il 1° posto nel Regno Unito. Billy Ocean continua a pubblicare album e singoli fino alla metà degli anni '90. Nel 2000, è stato insignito dalla Regina Elisabetta II per il suo contributo alla musica.
