Sy Gardner is a Berlin-based electronic music and techno artist. He began his career as a DJ and producer in London in the 1990s. In 2000, he co-founded the renowned electronic music label Kompakt. In 2006, he launched his own label, Synewave, and in 2012, he founded the techno label Gynoid Audio. Gardner has also worked as a producer and remixer for various artists, including The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, David Bowie, and Depeche Mode. Gardner is known for his eclectic and experimental music, ranging from minimal techno to house, dub, and drum & bass. His productions are characterized by their meticulous precision and innovative use of samples. He is also renowned for his fiery and energetic DJ sets, often featuring his own creations. In addition to his musical career, Gardner is also a pioneer in music technology. In 2003, he launched Beatport, which became one of the world's leading electronic music sales sites. In 2010, he co-founded the music technology company Native Instruments. Gardner is also an active investor in the electronic music industry, having contributed to the funding of several companies in the sector, including Beatport, Native Instruments, and G-Tech.
