Substate is a French electronic music group from the city of Lyon. The group consists of two musicians: Nicolas Chevreux and Benjamin Duchemin. Substate was formed in 2006 by Nicolas Chevreux and Benjamin Duchemin. The two artists met during their electronic music studies at the university of Lyon. From the beginning, they worked together to develop a unique musical approach, mixing elements of techno, house, trance and drum and bass music. Their first album, "The Awakening", was released in 2007 and was well received by critics. Their second album, "The Return", was released in 2009 and confirmed their talent as composers and producers. In 2011, they released their third album, "The Journey", which was even more acclaimed by critics. Substate is considered one of the most innovative and talented French groups of the current electronic music scene. Their albums have been praised by critics and they have received numerous awards, including at the Victoires de la Musique Electronique.
