BIOGRAPHY
"Quadraphonic sound was an early form of surround sound. It was created using four separate audio channels, each sent to a different speaker. This allowed for a more realistic and immersive listening experience than was possible with stereo sound. Quadraphonic sound was used in various ways, including in quadraphonic recordings, which were made using four separate microphones, and in quadraphonic playback systems, which used separate speakers. Quadraphonic sound was popular in the 1970s but fell out of use in the 1980s with the advent of more recent surround formats, such as Dolby Surround and Dolby 5.1."
