BIOGRAPHY
Jean-Louis Murat, born on February 28, 1958 in Lavaur, is a French singer-songwriter.
Raised in the Tarn, in a modest family, Murat left school at 16 to become a worker in the family's shoe factory. It was at this time that he began writing his first songs.
In 1977, he moved to Paris, where he frequented musical and literary circles. It was there that he met many artists, including Serge Gainsbourg, with whom he collaborated several times. In 1982, he released his first album, "Le Cœur battant", which was moderately successful.
Murat continued to release albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and achieved commercial success with his "Mustang" album in 1996. He also collaborated with many artists, including Alain Bashung, Françoise Hardy and Cali.
Murat is now considered one of the most important singer-songwriters of his generation in France. He has been awarded numerous times, including at the Victoires de la Musique and the Grammy Awards.
