Philippe "Phil" Parry is a French musician born in Paris, France, and coming from a family immersed in music. His mother was a singer and his father, a pianist. He began his musical career playing piano in jazz clubs in the capital. He later studied composition and classical piano at the University Paris VIII, before moving to New York to further his studies with pianist Bill Evans. Upon returning to France, he taught piano and composition at the University Paris VIII and Paris IX-Diderot before moving to Los Angeles to teach at the University of California, South and North. He is currently a member of the renowned ensemble "Jazz à la Villette" in Paris.
