BIOGRAPHY
Oliver Imseng is a Swiss musical artist, born in Zurich in 1984 and coming from a musical family. He started playing the piano at six and composition with Hans-Jürgen von Bose at nine. He studied composition and piano at the Zurich Conservatory, graduating in 2006. He continued his composition studies with Georg Friedrich Haas at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria.
Imseng has won several awards, including the Composition Prize of the Swiss Music Foundation in 2009, the Composition Prize of the Prince Pierre de Monaco Foundation in 2010 and the Composition Prize of the Swiss Arts Academy in 2011. His works have been performed by renowned ensembles and orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Swiss Romandy, the Orchestra of the Swiss Radio Romandy, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swiss Italian Radio, the Ensemble Contrechamps, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Ensemble Modern, the Ensemble Signal, the Orchestra of the Zurich University of the Arts, the Orchestra of the Geneva University of Music, the Orchestra of the Lucerne University of Music, the Orchestra of the Lausanne University of Music and the Ensemble Contrechamps.
Currently, Imseng is in residence at the Institut de Recherche et de Coordination Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM) in Paris.
