BIOGRAPHY
"Milan Lieskovsky is a Slovak composer and musician, born on July 3, 1984, in Bratislava. He studied composition with Peter Graham and Ivan Parík at the Academy of Music in Bratislava, then with Ivan Parík and Vladimír Godár at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He obtained his doctorate in composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in 2009.
Lieskovsky is the author of several orchestral works, including the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra (2006), the Sinfonietta (2007) and the Slovak Dances (2008). His works have been performed by numerous ensembles and orchestras in Slovakia, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, and the United States.
In 2011, Lieskovsky received the Composition Prize of the City of Vienna and, in 2012, the Composition Prize of the Slovak Art Foundation. In 2013, he was named laureate of the International Bohuslav Martinů Orchestra Composition Competition and, in 2014, laureate of the International Symphonic Composition Competition of Prague."
