Michele Cecchi is an Italian composer and conductor, born in Florence in 1966. He studied composition with Luciano Berio and Bruno Maderna. Cecchi served as assistant conductor to Claudio Abbado at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and at the Filarmonica della Scala. He was appointed principal conductor of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra of Turin in 2001. Cecchi has been a guest conductor of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the RAI Symphony Orchestra of Rome, the RAI Symphony Orchestra of Naples, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. From 2006 to 2009, he served as musical director of the Teatro Regio Torino. Michele Cecchi is the author of several musical works, including "La scala di seta" (Feltrinelli, 2002) and "Storia della musica" (Einaudi, 2007).
