BIOGRAPHY
Maarten Hercules is a Dutch musical artist. He began his career as a singer and songwriter, but is best known for his production and composition of electronic music. Hercules has collaborated with numerous Dutch and international artists such as Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Ferry Corsten and Afrojack. He was also a member of the trance music group Rank 1 for several years. In 2016, he was named best Dutch producer by Dutch magazine DJ Mag.
Hercules grew up in a family where music was important, and he began playing music at the age of seven. At 12, he began writing his own songs and recording them on cassette. In 1999, he discovered trance music through a friend and was immediately drawn to this genre. It was then that he began producing electronic music. In 2000, he released his first single, "Hallelujah", under the name Maarten de Jong. He then released several other singles and signed with the Dutch label Black Hole Recordings. In 2003, he joined the group Rank 1 and released his first album with them, "Airwave". The single "Airwave" was an international success and reached the top of the Dutch charts. In 2006, he left Rank 1 to focus on his solo career. He released his first solo album, "Hooked", in 2007. Since then, he has released several other albums and singles, and has collaborated with numerous Dutch and international artists. Maarten Hercules currently lives in Amsterdam with his wife and two children.
