BIOGRAPHY
Lukas Blekaitis is a Lithuanian musician, born in 1991. After studying piano and composition at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he obtained a master's degree in composition in 2016.
Blekaitis has composed music for various ensembles and soloists, including the Diotima Quartet, pianist Nicolas Hodges, trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger, violinist Alexander Janiczek, bassoonist Pascal Gallois, clarinetist Michael Collins, percussionist Colin Currie, viola da gamba player Richard Tunnicliffe, and the Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra. His works have been performed at numerous festivals, including the Salzburg, Lucerne, Aldeburgh, Huddersfield, Bath, Cheltenham, City of London, Spitalfields, Three Choirs, Leamington, Norfolk & Norwich, and Latitude festivals.
In 2017, Blekaitis won the prestigious British Composer Awards in the "Chamber Music" category for his work "String Quartet No. 2".
