BIOGRAPHY
Joost Van Der Vleuten is a Dutch musical artist. Born into a family of musicians, he began learning piano at the age of seven. At eighteen, he studied composition and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague. He then continued his studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained a doctorate in music. After teaching composition and piano at the University of California, Berkeley, and then at the University of California, Davis, he returned to the Netherlands to teach at the University of The Hague. Later, he was appointed as a composition professor at Utrecht University, a position he still holds today.
Van Der Vleuten is a prolific composer, with his works performed worldwide. Among his most famous compositions are the string quartets "Het Zonnetje in Huis" and "De Aarde draait door", as well as piano pieces "Prelude and Fugue in C minor" and "Piano Sonata No. 2 in F minor".
