BIOGRAPHY
James Allan (born October 27, 1988) is a Scottish singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of the rock band Glasvegas.
Allan was born in Glasgow's East End and grew up in the Baillieston area of the city. He lost his father when he was eleven years old and was raised by his mother and older sister. Allan left school at sixteen and worked various manual jobs before finding success as a musician.
In 2008, Allan's band Glasvegas released their debut album, which sold over a million copies worldwide. The album was nominated for the Mercury Prize and the band won the Brit Award for Best Breakthrough Act.
Allan has cited a wide range of musical influences, including the Beatles, Elvis Presley, and Motown.
