BIOGRAPHY
Hiroyuki Oda (also known as Hiro of Radwimps, born on December 16, 1978 in Shizuoka) is a Japanese musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Radwimps.
Oda began playing the guitar at the age of 13. He was influenced by Western rock music, particularly that of Nirvana and the Pixies. He formed Radwimps in high school with his friend and bassist, Yusuke Takeda. The band released their self-titled debut album, Radwimps, in 2002. The album was a moderate success, selling over 100,000 copies.
In 2003, Radwimps released their second album, Daidai. The album was a commercial success, selling over 1 million copies. It was followed by the release of the band's third album, Kokoro no Oto, in 2004. The album was another commercial success, selling over 1.5 million copies.
Radwimps released their fourth album, Altocolony no Teiri, in 2006. The album was a commercial success, selling over 2 million copies. It was followed by the release of the band's fifth album, Zettai Zetsumei, in 2008. The album was another commercial success, selling over 2.5 million copies.
Radwimps released their sixth album, Jinsei × Boku =, in 2011. The album was a commercial success, selling over 3 million copies. It was followed by the release of the band's seventh album, Antimatter, in 2014. The album was another commercial success, selling over 3.5 million copies.
Radwimps released their eighth album, Kimi no Na Wa, in 2016. The album was a commercial success, selling over 4 million copies.
Oda has also released two solo albums, Hoshi no Oujo (2010) and Ten (2012).
Oda has won numerous awards, including the Japan Record Award and the MTV Video Music Award Japan.
