Farid is a French rapper of Algerian origin. He was born in 1984 in Vitry-sur-Seine, in the Paris suburbs. Farid began his musical career at the beginning of the 2000s, as a member of the rap group 3ème Oeil. The group released two albums, 3ème Oeil (2001) and L'Oeil du tigre (2003), before disbanding in 2004. Farid then pursued a solo career, releasing his first album, Ma vie est un enfer, in 2006. The album was a commercial and critical success, and established Farid as one of the major figures of the French rap scene. Farid has since released three other albums, La vie est belle (2008), Les yeux dans les yeux (2010) and La vie est un miracle (2012).
