Evanescence is an American rock band from Little Rock, Arkansas, formed in 1995 by Amy Lee and Ben Moody. The band has released three studio albums, Fallen, The Open Door and Evanescence, as well as one live album, Anywhere but Home. Their music blends elements of rock, metal, and classical, and their style has evolved over the years.
The band achieved great success with their 2003 album, Fallen, which topped the Billboard 200 and was certified seven times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The single "Bring Me to Life" also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, The Open Door, peaked at number two on the Billboard 200.
Evanescence has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and has been nominated for four Grammy Awards. In 2021, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
