Earth Inc. is a Franco-American music group based in Paris, France, composed of three musicians: Alex Gifford, Eric Baulecker, and Olivier Giraud. The group was formed in 2012 by Alex Gifford, a Franco-American musician who grew up in Paris. Gifford began his musical career playing guitar in Parisian jazz clubs. In 2011, he met Eric Baulecker, an American bassist also active in the Paris jazz scene. Baulecker and Gifford began playing together and quickly gained a solid reputation as a jazz duo. In 2012, the duo was joined by Olivier Giraud, a French percussionist and a big fan of Gifford and Baulecker. Together, as Earth Inc., they began performing in jazz clubs and festivals in France and Europe. In 2013, Earth Inc. released its first album, "First Light," which was well-received by critics and helped the group stand out in the French jazz scene. Subsequent albums, "Second Sun" in 2014, "Third Wave" in 2015, "Fourth Dimension" in 2016, "Fifth Element" in 2017, and "Sixth Sense" in 2018, were also well-received, solidifying Earth Inc.'s position among the top French jazz groups. Known for its originality, virtuosity, and stage energy, Earth Inc. is considered one of the best French jazz groups currently active. The group continues to perform in jazz clubs and festivals in France and Europe.
