Dominik von François is a French composer and musician born in 1977. He studied composition and orchestration at the University of Paris VIII with Pierre Boulez, Gérard Grisey, and Luc Ferrari. He also studied piano, electroacoustic music, and orchestra conducting. Dominik von François has composed music for theater, dance, film, and television. His works have been performed at numerous festivals in France and abroad, including the Avignon Festival, the Angers Festival, the Radio France and Montpellier Festival, the Musica Festival, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Présences Festival, the Prague Autumn Festival, the Venice Biennale, the MATA Festival in New York, the Tanglewood Music Center, and the Royal College of Music in London. In 2011, Dominik von François received the Musical Composition Prize from the Prince Pierre de Monaco Foundation for his work "L'Esprit des lieux". In 2012, he was a laureate of the international electroacoustic composition competition "Musica Viva" with his work "Aurora". In 2013, he received the Composition Prize from the Simon I. Patiño Foundation for his work "Tierra del Fuego". Dominik von François is a member of the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and the Orchestre de Paris. He is also the conductor of the Ensemble Court-Circuit.
