Danny Powers is an American musician born on November 17, 1957, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He began his musical career playing guitar in Boston clubs in the early 1980s. In 1985, he founded the Danny Powers Band with bassist Mike Rivard and drummer Paul D'Angelo. They played in many Boston-area clubs and released two albums, Danny Powers Band (1985) and Danny Powers (1987). In 1989, Powers decided to embark on a solo career. He released his first solo album, Danny Powers, in 1990, followed by two blues albums, Danny Powers Blues Band (1991) and Danny Powers Blues Band II (1992). In 1995, his third solo album, Danny Powers, was critically acclaimed. In 2000, he released his fourth solo album, which was even more successful than its predecessor. In 2002, his fifth solo album was also critically acclaimed. Since then, he has continued to release well-received solo albums, including in 2005, 2009, 2013, and 2017.
