BIOGRAPHY
Andy Farthing is an English jazz and rock musician. Born in London, England, he grew up in southern England. He studied music at the Royal College of Music in London and later worked as a professional musician in jazz clubs and orchestras in the British capital. Farthing then became a member of the psychedelic rock band Soft Machine for two years, before leaving the group to focus on his solo career. As a solo musician, he released several albums, including "The Andy Farthing Quartet" (1968), "The Andy Farthing Band" (1969) and "Andy Farthing and Friends" (1970). Farthing was also a member of several jazz groups, including the Mike Westbrook Brass Band, the Peter King Quartet and the Stan Tracey Quintet. He also played with many famous jazz musicians such as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. Farthing passed away in 2014 at the age of 74.
