Aakash Apoorv is an Indian music artist born on October 8, 1985, in New Delhi, India. He began his musical career playing the tabla, an Indian percussion instrument, at the age of seven. At 15, he began learning the sitar, an Indian classical instrument, with renowned Ustad Imrat Khan. In 2004, he obtained his degree in Indian classical music at the prestigious Music Conservatory of Benares. In 2006, he also obtained his master's degree in Indian classical music at the Music Conservatory of Delhi. Aakash Apoorv continued his training by studying with sitarist Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. He began his professional career by recording his first musical composition, "Raga Jog", in 2006. Since then, he has recorded several albums of Indian classical and fusion music such as "Journey of a Sitarist" (2007), "Sitar Expressions" (2008) and "Global Raga" (2009). Aakash Apoorv has also collaborated with many Indian and international music artists such as tabla player Zakir Hussain, sitar player Ravi Shankar, flutist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, saxophonist Kenny G and pianist Herbie Hancock. In 2010, he was designated as one of the best sitar musicians by the Indian music magazine "Swar". He was also recognized as one of the best sitar musicians by the "Times of India" in 2011.
