Savage (real name Demetrius Savelio) is a New Zealand rapper, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on October 21, 1988, to a Samoan father and a European mother. Savage began his career as a member of the hip hop group Ill Semantics. The group released one album, The Set Up, in 2006, before Savage embarked on a solo career. His debut solo album, The Sound of Us, was released in 2008. It peaked at number two on the New Zealand music charts and was certified gold. Savage's second album, Savage Island, was released in 2010. It peaked at number one on the New Zealand music charts and was certified platinum. Savage has released four singles, "Swing", "They Don't Know", "Moonshine", and "What Do You See".
