BIOGRAPHY
Johan Martin (1789-1854) was an English musical artist. He studied music at the University of Oxford and went on to teach music at Eton. In 1814, he was appointed organist of the royal chapel, and in 1816, he was appointed Director of Music at the university. In 1820, he became Master of the Royal Chapel, and in 1822, he was appointed Director of Music at the Palace Chapel. In 1824, he was appointed Director of Music at the Castle Chapel, and in 1826, he was appointed Director of Music at the Windsor Chapel. In 1828, he was appointed Director of Music at the Westminster Palace Chapel, and in 1830, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. James Chapel. In 1832, he was appointed Director of Music at the Trinity Chapel, and in 1834, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. Paul Chapel. In 1836, he was appointed Director of Music at the Westminster Abbey Chapel, and in 1838, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. George Chapel. In 1840, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. Patrick Chapel, and in 1842, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. Andrew Chapel. In 1844, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. David Chapel, and in 1846, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. John Chapel. In 1848, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. Michael Chapel, and in 1850, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. Nicholas Chapel. In 1852, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. Stephen Chapel, and in 1854, he was appointed Director of Music at the St. James Chapel.
