"Timbaland is an American record producer, composer, and DJ specializing in R&B, hip-hop, and dance music. He has worked with numerous high-profile artists, including Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and Beyoncé. He has also produced albums and tracks for his own group, Timbaland & Magoo, as well as for his solo career.
Raised in Norfolk, Virginia, Timbaland began producing music at the age of 14 using a simple tape recorder. He later studied music at Virginia Commonwealth University before moving to New York to pursue his musical career.
In 1996, Timbaland produced the debut album of singer Aaliyah, titled One in a Million. The album was a commercial success and helped propel Timbaland to fame. He went on to produce several more albums and tracks for Aaliyah, including the hit single "Are You That Somebody."
After Aaliyah's death in 2001, Timbaland continued to work with numerous other artists. In 2006, he released his first solo album, Shock Value. The album was a commercial success and was certified platinum in the United States. He later released two more albums, Shock Value II (2009) and Opera Noir (2010).
In 2013, Timbaland served as executive producer for Justin Timberlake's album The 20/20 Experience. The album was a commercial success and was certified platinum in the United States. In 2014, Timbaland released his own album, Textbook Timbo.
Timbaland has been honored with numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards, six BET Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and two American Music Awards. In 2007, he was named one of the most influential producers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine."
