BIOGRAPHY
Sven Kuhlmann is a German electronic music artist born in 1977. He began his musical career playing classical piano before turning to electronic music and minimal techno production. Sven has released several albums and singles under his own name and various pseudonyms, such as Minus 8, Robot Koch, and The Tape.
Born in Cologne, Germany, Sven began playing piano at the age of seven and studied classical music until he discovered electronic music at 16. He then began producing his own music and performing at minimal techno clubs in Cologne. In 2001, he founded the label Minus 8 Recordings, which has released several of his albums and singles.
In addition to his work under his own name, Sven has also created music under the pseudonyms Robot Koch and The Tape. In 2009, he released his first solo album, Snowblind, to critical acclaim and a nomination for the German Electronic Music Prize. In 2011, he collaborated with jazz musician Nils Frahm on an album, followed by the release of his second solo album, The Invisible, in 2012, to widespread critical praise as one of the best electronic music albums of the year.
Currently based in Berlin, Sven continues to produce music under his own name and various pseudonyms. He is also an active member of the Berlin music scene, performing at numerous clubs and festivals in Germany and abroad.
