Miley Cyrus is an American singer, actress, and songwriter born on November 23, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Cyrus rose to fame with her role as Miley Stewart / Hannah Montana in the Disney Channel television series, Hannah Montana. She then signed with Hollywood Records and released her debut studio album Meet Miley Cyrus in 2007. Her second album, Breakout (2008), was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Cyrus reprised her role as Miley Stewart in the films Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009) and Hannah Montana: Forever (2010). She then starred in the films The Last Song (2010) and LOL (2012). Cyrus released her third studio album, Bangerz, in 2013, which reached the number one spot on the Billboard 200. She later released a remix album of Bangerz, Bangerz: Remixes, in 2014. In 2015, she launched her own clothing line, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, and released her first studio album in five years, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz.
Cyrus is an activist for LGBT rights and was honored by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) in 2015. She has also been involved in various humanitarian causes such as supporting adoption, fighting against breast cancer, and raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease.
