Fred Baker, born on June 13, 1959 in Los Angeles, is an American trance music producer, DJ, and composer.
Baker began his career as a DJ and producer of disco music in the 1980s. He then moved on to producing house music in the 1990s. In 1995, he produced his first trance track, titled "Forever Friends," under the alias Yves deRuyter. The track was a success and was played by many renowned DJs, including Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, and John Digweed.
In 1999, Baker co-founded the trance label Monster Tunes with his friend and fellow DJ, Mark Sherry. The label had immediate success with its first release, "Forever Friends," which became a hit in clubs worldwide. Since then, Monster Tunes has become one of the most respected trance labels in the world, releasing tracks from many renowned artists such as Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, and Tiësto.
Baker has also produced many tracks under his own name and has been a significant contributor to the popularity of trance music in the 2000s. His most famous tracks include "I Will Be There," "Reach Out," "Give Me A Sign," and "We Are in Control."
Baker is also known for his remixes of tracks by many artists, including Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Lady Gaga.
