BIOGRAPHY
"Chromeo is a Canadian electro-funk duo from Montreal, formed in 2002 by musicians David "Dave 1" Macklovitch and Patrick "P-Thugg" Gemayel. The group is known for its 1980s synth-funk sound and humorous lyrics often filled with innuendos.
The duo met in the mid-1990s at McGill University in Montreal. Macklovitch is the son of one of the founders of the clothing company Tip Top Tailors, while Gemayel is the son of a former Lebanese Minister of the Interior. They were part of a group called "The Right Reasons" in the late 1990s.
In 2004, they released their first album, She's in Control. The album was nominated for a Juno Award for Best Dance Recording.
In 2007, they released their second album, Fancy Footwork, which reached number one on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album.
In 2010, they released their third album, Business Casual. The album reached number two on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
In 2013, they released their fourth album, White Women. The album reached number one on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
In 2016, they released their fifth album, Head Over Heels. The album reached number three on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart.
In 2019, they released their sixth album, Painted Faces."
(Note: The original French text mentioned that the group was "formé en 2002 par les musiciens David 'Dave 1' Macklovitch et Patrick 'P-Thugg' Gemayel." I have translated this as "formed in 2002 by musicians David 'Dave 1' Macklovitch and Patrick 'P-Thugg' Gemayel." If you prefer, you could say "the duo was formed in 2002 by..." or "Chromeo was formed in 2002 by...")
