Chris Avantgarde is a German electronic music artist. Originally from Munich, he was born in 1977. Prior to starting his musical career, he studied classical music and jazz. In 1998, he co-founded the German electronic music label Kompakt, which has become one of the most influential in the country's electronic music scene. Chris Avantgarde has released several albums under his own name, as well as with his electronic duo Supermayer. His albums have been critically acclaimed and have won multiple awards. In 2010, he was named "Producer of the Year" at the Deutscher Musikproduzentenpreis Awards.
