Steven Patrick Morrissey, born May 22, 1959 in Davyhulme, Lancashire, is a British singer-songwriter and music producer. He is recognized for being the singer of the rock band The Smiths, active from 1982 to 1987. Morrissey has since pursued a solo career, with 14 studio albums to his name to date. He has been ranked among the 100 greatest singers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine and was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2002.
