Pharrell Williams was born on April 5, 1973, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is an American producer, singer-songwriter, dancer, actor, creative director, and designer. He is the leader of the duo The Neptunes, formed with Chad Hugo, and is a member of the group N.E.R.D. With over 150 million records sold, including over 80 million with his group N.E.R.D., he is one of the most influential producers in contemporary music. In 2013, he was named producer of the year by Billboard magazine. He has also won several other accolades such as the BET Awards, Grammy Awards, and BET Hip Hop Awards. In addition to his success as a producer, Pharrell Williams has also been recognized as a prolific recording artist.
