BIOGRAPHY
Moullinex is the stage name of Portuguese musician and producer Luis Clara Gomes, based in Germany. His music is a blend of disco, house, and electronics with a vintage sound.
Gomes was born in Lisbon in 1984 and began playing piano at the age of four and drums at thirteen. He studied jazz and electronic music at the Lisbon Conservatory. After graduating, he worked as a session musician and producer for various artists.
In 2010, he released his first album, Flora, under the name Moullinex. The album was well received by critics and led to Gomes being nominated for a Portuguese Grammy.
In 2012, Gomes released his second album, Dark Night Bright Lights. The album was a departure from his previous work, with a sound influenced by synth-pop and disco.
Gomes has released a further two albums under the name Moullinex, Love in Times of Repetition in 2015 and Hypersex in 2017. He has also released several singles and EPs.
Gomes has remixed tracks for several artists, including Röyksopp, Hot Chip, and LCD Soundsystem. He has also collaborated with several other artists, including Xinobi, his Discotexas labelmate, and Swedish singer Robyn.
