Kiesza is a Canadian singer and dancer, born on January 31, 1989, in Calgary, Alberta. She grew up in the northeast of the city, where she started dancing at the age of five. Kiesza later studied jazz and contemporary dance at the Calgary Dance Development Center. She continued her dance career by joining the hip-hop group Souljahz. It was during this time that she began writing her own songs and publishing them on YouTube. In 2014, she signed with the Lokal Legend label and released her first single, "Hideaway". This single reached number one on the UK singles charts and was certified gold. Subsequently, Kiesza released her first album, Sound of a Woman, the same year. The album was certified gold in Canada.
