BIOGRAPHY
Dominic Neill James Carter, born on August 4, 1974 in London, is a British jazz saxophonist.
Carter started playing the saxophone at the age of nine. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra from 1992 to 1994. In 1995, he joined trumpeter Guy Barker's band. He has also played with Stan Tracey, John Dankworth, Humphrey Lyttelton, Joe Locke, Clark Terry, Billy Higgins, Cedar Walton, Red Rodney, Jimmy Heath, Ronnie Scott and Benny Goodman.
In 1997, Carter released his first solo album, Out of Nowhere. He has since released several albums, including The Dark Side of the Mood (1999), When Dragons Dream (2001) and Chasin' the Dragon (2003). In 2007, he released the album Live at the 606 Club, recorded at the London jazz club 606.
Carter was named Best British Saxophonist at the British Jazz Awards in 2003 and 2004. In 2006, he was named Musician of the Year at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
