Adele Laurie Blue Adkins MBE, born May 5, 1988, is a British singer-songwriter. She signed with XL Recordings after sharing demos on Myspace in 2006. Her debut album, titled "19", was released in 2008 and reached number one on the charts in the UK and the US. Her second album, "21", was released in 2011 and has sold over 31 million copies worldwide. Adele has won numerous awards, including 10 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards, and an Oscar. She is considered one of the most popular artists of her generation. In 2012, she was ranked fourth on the list of the 100 most powerful women in the world by Forbes magazine.
