Tori Amos is an American singer-songwriter-pianist born on August 22, 1963 in North Carolina. She began playing piano at the age of three and attended the prestigious Peabody Institute in Baltimore during her youth, but was dismissed due to her lack of interest in conventional classical music. She started her music career in rock bands before transitioning to a solo career.
Amos released her debut solo album "Little Earthquakes" in 1992, which was praised for her provocative voice and ability to address sensitive subjects. Her hit single "Silent all these Years" became a success on alternative radio and MTV. She continued to release successful albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, with songs exploring a diverse range of topics, from feminism to religion and politics.
