Silja, a Finnish-born artist, began her musical career playing piano and flute in a youth orchestra. After studying classical music at the Helsinki Conservatory, graduating in 2003, she continued to perform on piano and flute in various ensembles and orchestras in Finland and Europe. Her debut solo album, "Silja - A Finnish Folk Music Journey", released in 2010, was critically acclaimed. She has since released several other albums including "Nordic Folk Songs" in 2012, "Finnish Folk Songs for Piano" in 2014, "Finnish Folk Songs for Flute" in 2016, and "Finnish Folk Songs for Violin" in 2018, all of which have received critical acclaim. Silja is now regarded as one of the top folk musicians in Finland of her generation.
