BIOGRAPHY
Kris Kross was an American rap duo formed by Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith. The duo was known for their unique fashion style of wearing their clothes backwards. They gained worldwide fame with their hit single "Jump", which remained at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for three weeks in 1992. Their other successful singles include "Warm It Up" and "Tonite's tha Night". Unfortunately, the group disbanded in the 2000s, and Chris Kelly passed away in 2013.
The group was discovered by producer and rapper Jermaine Dupri while they were shopping in an Atlanta shopping mall. Dupri went on to produce their first album "Totally Krossed Out", which was a huge success. The duo also appeared in music videos for other artists, game shows, and made a guest appearance on the popular sitcom "A Different World".
Despite their initial success, sales of their later albums declined, and they were eventually dropped by their record label. They briefly attempted to revive their career in 2007 before ultimately breaking up.
Aside from their music career, the duo members also made headlines for their personal issues, including Chris Kelly's battle with cancer and Smith's substance abuse.
Overall, Kris Kross experienced meteoric success but struggled to maintain their popularity and impact in the music industry. However, their influence remains significant in the world of hip-hop.
