Supertramp is a British rock band, originally from London, England. The band was formed in 1969 by singer and pianist Roger Hodgson and bassist Frank Farrell. Supertramp achieved commercial success with their fourth album, Breakfast in America, in 1979, which reached number one in the United States and number three in the UK. Their music is characterized by complex arrangements and elaborate vocal harmonies, and Hodgson is widely recognized as the group's primary songwriter. Supertramp has sold over 60 million albums worldwide, and they were ranked at number 34 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. Their album Breakfast in America was ranked at number 4 on the magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In 2011, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
