Rod Stewart is a British singer and songwriter born on January 10, 1945 in Highgate, London. He is one of the most popular and acclaimed musicians of his generation, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. Stewart has achieved phenomenal commercial success during his five-decade career, recording 62 singles that reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, including seven that reached number one. He has also had 36 singles chart in the Top 10 of the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, including three that reached number one, and 23 singles chart in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in Britain, including seven that reached number one. Stewart began his career playing guitar and singing in clubs in London during the 1960s. He then joined the Jeff Beck Group in 1968, before forming Faces with Ronnie Wood in 1969. Stewart also recorded several solo albums during his career, with the most famous being "Every Picture Tells a Story" (1971) and "Blondes Have More Fun" (1978). He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2009, Rod Stewart was ranked number 10 on the Forbes magazine's list of 100 richest musicians.
