Kim Carnes is an American singer and songwriter, born on July 20, 1945, in Los Angeles, California. She is known for her songs "Bette Davis Eyes" and "Mistaken Identity". Carnes began her career in the 1960s as a folk and country-rock singer. Her first solo album, "Rest on Me", was released in 1971. She then signed with EMI America Records and released her second album, "Silhouette", in 1978. Carnes gained international fame in 1981 with the release of her album "Mistaken Identity", which included the song "Bette Davis Eyes". This title was a commercial success and was named "Song of the Year" at the Grammy Awards. Carnes continued to release albums and singles in the 1980s and 1990s, and she won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her song "More Love" in 1987. She was also named "Artist of the Year" at the American Music Awards in 1982. After taking a break from her musical career in the 2000s, Carnes returned in 2006 with the album "Chasin' Wild Trains".
