Born Christopher Charles Geppert on May 3, 1951, Christopher Cross is an American singer, songwriter, and musician from Austin, Texas. He is best known for his soft, melodic music in the 70s and 80s. Cross made his debut with his self-titled album in 1979, which won five Grammy Awards. His most famous single, "Sailing," won three Grammys on its own, including Song of the Year.
He continued to produce music throughout the 80s with ups and downs. In the 90s, despite less commercial success, he continued to release new music and perform in concerts. His musical style is best described as a blend of soft pop, rock, and American folk.
