"Pitbull", mit echten Namen Armando Christian Pérez, auch bekannt als "Mr. Worldwide", ist ein US-amerikanischer Rapper, Sänger, Produzent und Unternehmer, geboren am 15. Januar 1981 in Miami, Florida. Er zählt zu den beliebtesten Künstlern seiner Generation und hat weltweit über fünf Millionen Alben und Singles verkauft. Aufgewachsen in einem benachteiligten Viertel von Miami, war Pitbull Gewalt und Kriminalität ausgesetzt. Er begann mit zehn Jahren zu rappen, beeinflusst von kubanischen und puerto-ricanischen Künstlern wie Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino und Tito Puente. Im Jahr 2001 unterzeichnete er einen Vertrag mit Luther Campbell, dem Leiter der Rap-Gruppe 2 Live Crew, und veröffentlichte sein erstes Album M.I.A.M.I. Pitbull erlangte kommerziellen Erfolg mit seinem zweiten Album, El Mariel (2006), das mit Platin ausgezeichnet und auf Platz 2 der Billboard 200 gelistet wurde. Sein drittes Album, The Boatlift (2007), erreichte Platz 1 der Billboard 200 und wurde mit Doppelplatin ausgezeichnet. Es folgten weitere Erfolge mit Rebelution (2009), Armando (2010), Planet Pit (2011), Global Warming (2012), Melbourne (2013), Globalization (2014) und Dale (2015), die allesamt mit Platin oder Doppelplatin ausgezeichnet wurden. 2013 wurde er vom Time-Magazin zum "Mann des Jahres" ernannt und 2014 vom Billboard-Magazin zum "Künstler des Jahres". Pitbull wurde zudem 2016 mit einem Stern auf dem Hollywood Walk of Fame geehrt und vom People-Magazin zum "sexysten Mann der Welt" 2015 gewählt.
